DOL Stepping Up Compliance Assistance Efforts
Department Launches New Partnership Program
WASHINGTONThe U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) today launched a program aimed at promoting greater awareness and compliance with DOLs employment laws through partnerships and activities with nonprofit stakeholder organizations. The new Partnerships for Compliance Assistance Program (PCAP) will complement DOLs public outreach efforts and help protect the wages, health benefits, retirement security, safety and health of Americas workforce.
The Department of Labor must ensure that workers and their employers have accurate and easy-to-access information so they can meet their responsibilities under federal labor law, said Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao. The partnerships we will form through this initiative will help us to deliver valuable information to workers and businesses nationwide.
Secretary Chao launched the Departments Compliance Assistance Initiative in June of 2002.
Organizations that join the partnership program will help DOL educate business owners, managers and employees about available compliance assistance tools, including a toll-free help line, DOLs compliance assistance Web site (www.dol.gov/compliance), a set of Web-based compliance assistance tools called the elaws Advisors and a comprehensive Employment Law Guide that offers an introduction to DOLs laws.
Organizations interested in exploring a compliance assistance partnership with DOL should visit www.dol.gov/compliance or send a letter of interest to:
