Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis announces new appointments to Labor Advisory Committee for Trade Negotiations and Trade Policy

WASHINGTON — Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis today announced the appointments of four additional members to the Labor Advisory Committee for Trade Negotiations and Trade Policy.

The new members include Veda Shook, president of the Association of Flight Attendants; Raymond Hair, president of the American Federation of Musicians; Lee Moak, president of the Air Line Pilots Association; and Mary Kay Henry, president of the Service Employees International Union.

"We are excited about the addition of these new members and look forward to the advice they will provide on international trade negotiations and trade policies of the United States," said Secretary Solis. "These advisors will play an important role in developing trade objectives that reflect the concerns of America's workers."

The advisory committee was established under the Trade Act of 1974 to provide information and advice related to negotiating U.S. objectives and bargaining positions prior to entering into trade agreements with foreign countries. The committee's charter was renewed in May 2008 for a four-year term, and the committee currently has 21 members.
