The United States and Mexico have agreed to conduct ministerial consultations as recommended in the public report on Submission #940003, issued April 11, 1995 by the U.S. National Administrative Office, under the terms of the North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC).
The agreement was reached in Ottawa today following meetings of the Labor Ministerial Commission created under the provisions of the NAALC. The ministerial meeting was attended by Mexican Secretary of Labor Santiago O¤ate and by U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert B. Reich.
The ministers have agreed to a procedure to accomplish the ministerial consultations. The first step of this process will be initiated at the senior official level between their designated representatives.
