WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $21,438,000 National Emergency Grant to assist with clean-up and recovery efforts in the wake of severe storms and straight-line winds that occurred in Ohio between June 29 and July 2. WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Labor today awarded a $3,358,017 National Emergency Grant to the Louisiana Workforce Commission that will be used to fund temporary jobs for cleanup and recovery efforts across Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac.

US Department of Labor provides grant increment to assist Missouri with continued flood recovery efforts

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $1,141,783 National Emergency Grant increment to continue cleanup and recovery efforts related to flooding that affected northwestern Missouri between June 1 and Aug. 1, 2011. Awarded to the Missouri Division of Workforce Development, the additional funding will make possible temporary employment for eligible dislocated workers in affected areas.

US Labor Department announces nearly $100 million in grants available for states to implement, improve short-time compensation or 'work sharing'

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the availability of nearly $100 million in grants for states to implement or improve existing short-term compensation, commonly referred to as "work sharing," programs. This funding has been made available through the bipartisan Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 signed by President Obama in February, which authorized states to set up programs to give employers an alternative to layoffs.

US Department of Labor provides grant to assist Florida with recovery efforts following Tropical Storm Debby

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $256,953 National Emergency Grant to assist with cleanup and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Debby, which made landfall in Florida June 23.

"Tropical Storm Debby brought flash floods, tornadoes and coastal erosion to Florida," said Jane Oates, assistant secretary of labor for employment and training. "The department's funding is part of the federal government's commitment to help Floridians rebuild their communities and put their lives back on track."
