US Department of Labor issues guidance, announces FY22 funding allotments for state foreign labor certification activities
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration has issued guidance to inform states about their grant allotments, and the process and timelines to apply for funding to administer services through their foreign labor certification programs.
The fiscal year 2022 funding will enable State Workforce Agencies to carry out activities such as posting job orders, inspecting housing for agricultural workers, and administering prevailing wage and practice surveys in support of employment-based foreign labor certification programs.
The Immigration and Nationality Act assigns certain responsibilities for employment-based immigration programs to the Secretary of Labor. ETA’s Office of Foreign Labor Certification has non-enforcement responsibility for these programs that are designed to help employers fill jobs while protecting U.S. and foreign workers.
Signed on March 15, 2022, the Consolidated Appropriations Act for 2022 authorized $21,282,000 for foreign labor certification grants, an increase of $1 million from the 2021 appropriation.
