$1.6M in incremental funding to help Mississippi workers affected by layoffs

Use of Funds: On June 28, 2014, the department approved a National Dislocated Worker Grant for up to $2,500,000, with $883,031 released initially. This incremental grant brings the total funds awarded for this project to its fully approved amount of $2,500,000. The Mississippi Department of Employment Security will receive $1,616,969 to continue temporary employment of eligible individuals to workers affected by the closure of Harrah's Casino located in Tunica, Mississippi. Manufacturing jobs, which are on the rise in Tunica, will continue to be a sector of focus for training and employment opportunities.
