to assist South Carolina storm recovery

Use of Funds: The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce has been awarded up to $3,223,968 in Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act National Dislocated Worker Grant funding to assist with clean up and recovery efforts resulting from the effects of severe storms and flooding that affected 11 counties in Central and Southeastern South Carolina. The counties include the following: Berkeley, Charleston, Clarendon, Dorchester, Georgetown, Horry, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter and Williamsburg. These funds will provide for temporary employment on projects to assist with clean up, demolition, repair, renovation and reconstruction of destroyed public structures, facilities and lands within the affected communities, as well as for the delivery of humanitarian aid and safety assistance, as needed. Funds may also be used to perform work on homes of economically disadvantaged individuals who are eligible for the federally funded weatherization program, with priority given to services for the elderly and individuals with disabilities.
