US Department of Labor announces grant increment to continue assisting Delaware workers laid off by Valero Energy

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $1,995,170 National Emergency Grant increment to continue to provide training and re-employment services to about 550 workers throughout the state of Delaware affected by layoffs at Delaware City-based Valero Energy Corp.

"This grant will ensure that these workers continue to receive the support they need to find jobs in growing industries," said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis. "The grant also benefits local employers by providing participants with skills and credentials that match the needs of 21st century employers."

Awarded to the Delaware Department of Labor, this second increment completes the approved funding amount under the grant, bringing the total award to $3,511,254. A first increment of $1,516,084 was released on Oct. 8, 2010.
