US Department of Labor announces $1.4 million grant to assist dislocated workers in Ohio

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced a $1,376,673 grant that will assist about 507 dislocated workers who either are currently receiving intensive services and training from the state of Ohio or are on waiting lists due to funding shortages.

"This grant will ensure that Ohioans who are now on waiting lists will be able to receive the kind of re-employment and re-training services they need and deserve and that will help them secure good jobs in emerging industries," said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis.

Awarded to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, this grant will be operated by the Area 2 Summit County Job and Family Services; the Area 13 Hamilton County Job and Family Services; and the Area 18 Trumbull County Job and Family Services.

The grant will provide the state with funding to provide affected workers with dislocated worker services such as skills assessment, basic skills training, individual career counseling and occupational skills training.
