ERISA Advisory Council to present recommendations Nov. 9-10
WASHINGTON – The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, also known as the ERISA Advisory Council, will meet at U.S. Department of Labor headquarters Nov. 9-10, 2016, to finalize their recommendations and to receive an update from the Employee Benefits Security Administration.
The council has scheduled the EBSA update tentatively for the afternoon of Nov. 10.
The meeting will take place at the Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Ave. NW as follows:
- Nov. 9: 1 p.m. to approximately 5 p.m. in C-5521 Room 4.
- Nov. 10, 9 a.m. to approximately noon in C-5521 Room 4; after a break for lunch, the meeting's afternoon session will take place in Room S-2508, starting at 1 p.m.
The council recommendations will be on the following issues: Participant Plan Transfers and Account Consolidation for the Advancement of Lifetime Plan Participation, and Cybersecurity Considerations for Benefit Plans. Section 512 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act provides for the establishment of the ERISA Advisory Council, which advises the secretary of labor and submits recommendations regarding the secretary's functions under ERISA.
