Date of Action: June 2, 2016
June 13, 2016

Type of Action: Complaint, consent judgment and order

Name of Defendants: Greater Columbia OB-GYN P.A.
Estate of Dr. Susan Keeshan

Allegations: Dr. Susan Keeshan served as trustee and acted as plan administrator for the Greater Columbia OB-GYN P.A. Profit Sharing Plan. The company ceased operations soon after Keeshan’s death on June 25, 2013, leaving the plan abandoned with no active fiduciary. As a result, plan participants have been unable to secure their retirement benefits. The plan currently has 10 participants with assets totaling approximately $108,000 to be distributed.

Resolution: The department seeks the court to appoint an independent fiduciary at the plan’s expense for the purpose of terminating the plan and distributing its assets. The department entered into a consent judgment with the executor of Keeshan’s estate to appoint AMI Benefit Plan Administrators Inc. of Youngstown, Ohio as the independent fiduciary.
