ERISA Advisory Council to hold open meeting Aug. 27-29
WASHINGTON — An open meeting of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, also known as the ERISA Advisory Council, will take place Aug. 27-29. During the open meeting Advisory Council members will hear testimony from invited witnesses and receive an update on Employee Benefits Security Administration activities. The EBSA update is scheduled for the morning of Aug. 28, subject to change.
The meeting will take place at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20210 in C5521 Room 4. The meeting will run from 9 a.m. to approximately 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 27-28 and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 29.
The Advisory Council will study the following issues: successful retirement plan communications for various population segments, locating missing and lost participants, and private sector pension de-risking and participant protections.

Section 512 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act provides for the establishment of an Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans, known as the ERISA Advisory Council. The duties of the council are to advise the secretary of labor and submit recommendations regarding the secretary's functions under ERISA.
