U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council to meet Nov. 3-4, 2010
WASHINGTON – The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans – known as the ERISA Advisory Council – will meet Nov. 3-4, at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Room C-5515-1A, in Washington, D.C.
The council will finalize its recommendations to the Secretary of Labor during the Nov. 3 meeting, which will run from 1 to 5 p.m. EST. During the Nov. 4, meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 3:30 p.m. EST, the council will receive an update from the Assistant Secretary of the Employee Benefits Security Administration and present their recommendations on the three issues the council studied this year. The topics are Healthcare Literacy, Disparities for Women and Minorities in Retirement, and Employee Benefit Plan Auditing and Financial Reporting Models.
All meetings are open to the public. Questions and written comments on the council’s topics are due by Oct. 26. The ERISA Advisory Council consists of 15 members appointed to staggered three-year terms by the Secretary of Labor. The members represent the general public, employers, employee organizations and the fields of insurance, corporate trust, investment management, investment counseling, accounting and actuarial counseling, as directed by statute.
