U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council sets November meetings

Washington – The Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans – known as the ERISA Advisory Council – and its three working groups will meet on November 5 and 6 at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, N.W., in Washington, D.C.

On November 6, the full council will meet starting at 9:30 a.m. EST in Room C-5515-3 to review and approve the findings and recommendations of the working groups. The afternoon session of the full council will meet in Room S-2508. The afternoon session will include an update from the Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and a presentation by the council of its recommendations.

The working groups will meet on November 5 starting at 1 p.m. EST in Room C-5515-3 to discuss recommendations to be presented to the full Advisory Council. The reports and recommendations address issues on spending down retirement assets, phased retirement and hard to value assets/target date funds.

The ERISA Advisory Council consists of 15 members appointed to staggered three-year terms by the secretary of labor. The members represent the general public, employers, employee organizations and the fields of insurance, corporate trust, investment management, investment counseling, accounting and actuarial counseling.
