U.S. Department of Labor to offer free health law seminar On May 1 and 2 in Boise, Idaho

Boise, Idaho – A free health law compliance assistance seminar, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and the Idaho Department of Insurance, will take place May 1 and 2 at the Boise Centre on the Grove, 850 Front Street in Boise.
The seminar is part of the Labor Department’s Health Benefits Education Campaign, which helps workers and employers, especially small businesses, understand their rights and obligations under various health benefit laws. Sessions will cover the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other federal benefits laws under Part 7 of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, fiduciary responsibility and health savings accounts.
Panelists will include representatives from EBSA, the Labor Department’s Employment Standards Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Idaho Department of Insurance.
Seminar attendees will receive the booklet Health Benefits Coverage Under Federal Law and other materials. The booklet also is available online at www.dol.gov/ebsa/pdf/CAGtableofcontents.pdf.
