U.S. Labor Department Sponsors Free Compliance Assistance Seminar for Retirement Plan Fiduciaries in Sacramento

Sacramento, California - “Getting It Right – Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities,” a compliance assistance seminar sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA), will take place in Sacramento, December 5 at the Red Lion Hotel Sacramento, 1401 Arden Way.

The free seminar is part of EBSA’s national fiduciary education campaign to increase awareness and understanding about basic fiduciary responsibilities associated with operating private-sector retirement plans. The Sacramento seminar is sponsored by the Labor Department in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management, National Federation of Independent Business, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, with only limited spaces available. The department’s “Getting It Right – Know Your Fiduciary Responsibilities” program will give employers and plan officials an understanding of the law and ways to avoid the most common enforcement problems fiduciaries face. The campaign also includes educational materials on topics such as understanding fees and selecting an auditor.
