ERISA Advisory Council to Hold Working Group Meetings in August

Washington, DC - The 2004 working groups of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans will meet August 3-5, 2004, to set their study goals for the year and begin taking testimony on their respective topics. All sessions, in addition to a 9:00 a.m. full council meeting on Wednesday, August 4, will take place at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C., in Conference Room N-3437 A-C.
The working group studying health and welfare Form 5500 requirements will meet from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3. Michele Weldon, director, Employee Plan Audit Services, PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, in Boston, Massachusetts, is the working group chair, and Charles Clark, senior vice president of Aon Consulting, in Somerset, New Jersey, is the vice chair.
The working group studying plan fees and reporting on Form 5500 will meet from 11:00 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4. Thomas Nyhan, general counsel, Central States, Southeast and Southwest Health and Welfare and Pension Department in Rosemont, Illinois, is the working group chair. Sherrie L. Grabot, president, founder and chief executive officer of GuidedChoice, Inc. of San Jose, California, is the vice chair.
The working group studying fee and related disclosures to participants will meet from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 5. The chair of the working group is C. Mark Bongard, senior counsel II, Ashland, Inc. in Lexington, Kentucky. John Szczur, director of investments, Central Pension Fund, International Union of Operating Engineers and Participating Employers in Washington, D.C., is the vice chair.
At the full council meeting, the three working group chairs will report on their groups’ progress, and members will be updated on activities of the Employee Benefits Security Administration. Persons wishing to speak before the various working groups should contact Debra Golding at 202.693.8664.
