Deputy Assistant Secretary Named for Employee Benefits Security Administration
WASHINGTON—The U. S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) today announced the appointment of Bradford P. Campbell to the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy.
Mr. Campbell directs the policy, legislative and research functions of the agency that administers the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). He serves as a liaison to other government agencies and the private sector on a variety of issues relating to ERISA.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Campbell served as senior legislative officer in the department’s Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, representing the department before Congress on issues pertaining to ERISA and related laws. He joined the Department of Labor in 2001.
Mr. Campbell has solid legislative experience on Capitol Hill, spanning the period from 1995-2001. Most recently, he served as legislative director to former Congressman Ernest Fletcher (KY), who was vice-chairman of the Employer-Employee Relations Subcommittee of the House Education and the Workforce Committee and Chairman of the House Policy Committee’s Subcommittee on Health. Mr. Campbell’s work focused on health and pension legislation, including Association Health Plans, the Patients’ Bill of Rights, and defined contribution pension plan reform. Mr. Campbell previously served as senior legislative assistant to Congressman Christopher Cox (CA), who chairs the House Policy Committee. There Mr. Campbell focused on tax policy and assisted Congressman Cox in his role as vice chairman of the Government Reform and Oversight Committee.
Mr. Campbell received his A.B. from Harvard University and is completing his J.D. at the Georgetown University Law Center.
