ERISA Advisory Council to Hold Final Meetings for 2003

Washington, DC - The final meetings of the 2003 Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans and its three working groups will convene on November 6 and 7 at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW, in Washington, DC.

The Working Group on Health Care Security will meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon EDT on November 6, followed by the Working Group on Optional Professional Management in Defined Contribution Plans from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. EDT. On November 7, the Working Group on Defined Benefit Plan Funding will meet from 9:30 a.m. to Noon EDT. All working groups will meet in Room N-4437 C-D to complete their reports for the year.

The final plenary Advisory Council meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. EDT on November 7 in the Secretary’s Conference Room, S-2508. At this meeting, the working group chairs will present the committee reports. Following presentment and acceptance by the Council, the working group reports will be officially forwarded to Secretary of Labor Elaine M. Chao for her consideration.

The ERISA Advisory Council consists of 15 members, appointed to staggered three-year terms by the Secretary of Labor to provide advice on policies and regulations affecting employee benefit plans sponsored by private-sector employers. The members represent the general public, employer and employee organizations and the fields of insurance, corporate trust, investment management and investment counseling, accounting and actuarial services.
