Washington, DC - The three working groups of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans have scheduled extended hearings on July 17 and 18 in Conference Room N-5437 at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20210.
On July 17, a joint session is set for two of the working groups - Increasing Pension Coverage and Preparing for Retirement. On July 18, the Working Group on Challenges to the Employment-Based Healthcare System will hold a hearing from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m.
All three working groups anticipate completion of their reports and/or recommendations to the Secretary of Labor by the close of the Council's year on November 14, at which time a full meeting of the Advisory Council is scheduled.
The ERISA Advisory Council consists of 15 members, appointed to staggered three-year terms by the Secretary to advise on policies and regulations affecting employee benefit plans offered by private sector employers. The members represent the general public, employer and employee organizations and the fields of insurance, corporate trust, investment management and advisors, accounting and actuarial services.
