ERISA Advisory Council, Working Groups to Hold June Meetings

The Advisory Committee on Employee Welfare and Pension Plans will meet June 12 to report on the progress of its three working group studies. The meeting, which will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC, also will update members on activities of the Labor Department's Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration.

Prior to the full Advisory Council session, the three working groups for 2001 will meet to continue hearing from invited witnesses on their selected topics. The working group on increasing pension plan coverage, participation and savings will convene on Monday, June 11, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The working group on preparing for retirement will meet from 1:00 p.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11. The third working group looking at challenges of the employment-based healthcare system will begin its June 12 session at 9:30 a.m. All sessions will take place in Conference Room N-5437.

If written statements are to be provided, 20 copies must be sent to Ms. Morrissey before June 4. The ERISA Advisory Council is comprised of members who are experienced professionals representing various sectors of the employee benefits industry. The Council expects to present the three working groups' reports/recommendations to the Secretary of Labor by November 14.
