Labor Department Participates In Seventh Annual Employee Benefits Outreach Program

The U.S. Department of Labor's Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA) will participate with the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP) in a series of conferences scheduled to be held in seven cities between May 7 and June 28.
Three two-day, regional programs will be conducted in Boston, May 7-8; San Francisco, May 17-18 and Chicago, June 25-26; and four one-day workshops will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina, June 18; Philadelphia, June 20; Dallas, June 22 and in Minneapolis, June 28.
The educational programs are designed to offer employee benefit plan professionals an extensive overview of enforcement and compliance assistance issues, the new electronic processing requirements and the Form 5500.
The programs will address topics that include lessons learned about the ERISA Filing Acceptance System or EFAST; enforcement and compliance assistance issues such as the Orphan Plan initiative; 401(k) plan fees; regulations pertaining to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and the claims procedures; and frequently-asked questions about the Form 5500.
