Labor Department Establishes Toll-Free Number to Help Form 5500 Filers

Starting March 1, 2001, employee benefit plan professionals can receive help in completing Form 5500 annual reports/returns by calling the U.S. Labor Department’s Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA) at the new toll-free number 1.866.463.3278.

The toll-free number enhances the capabilities of PWBA’s EFAST Help Desk to handle inquiries from filers of the estimated 1.2 million Form 5500 and Form 5500-EZ filed each year. This toll free number replaces the toll number 1.202.219.8770.

“This new toll-free number will provide plan filers with easy access to technical assistance from PWBA, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation,” according to Acting Assistant Secretary Alan D. Lebowitz.
