Archived News Release — Caution: Information may be out of date.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (PWBA), in conjunction with six state societies of certified public accountants, will conduct a series of one-day workshops in nine cities throughout the country that will offer employee benefit plan professionals an extensive overview of the Form 5500.

The programs will be conducted between May 24 and June 28, and are designed to educate plan professionals on the ERISA Filing Acceptance System (EFAST), electronic filing, major revisions to the Form 5500 and the revised reporting regulations.

The educational programs provide an effective way for PWBA to inform service providers and plan administrators about the agency’s reporting and compliance requirements for the new Form 5500 annual reports.

Day-long programs will be held by the department and the Society of Certified Public Accountants in New Haven, Conn., on May 25; Columbus, Oh., on June 1; Atlanta, Ga., on June 6; Albany, N.Y., on June 8, Uniondale, N. Y., on June 12 and in New York City on June 13; San Francisco on June 26 and Los Angeles on June 27; and in Bellevue, Wash., on June 28.

PWBA speakers are senior officials from the divisions of accounting services and reporting compliance in the Office of the Chief Accountant.
