EBSA Press Release: ERISA Advisory Council To Hold Public Meetings In April [03/18/1997]

The working groups of the Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans will hold public meetings on April 8 and 9 in Room N-5437 A&B, U.S. Department of Labor Building, Third and Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210.
On April 8 from 9:30 a.m. to noon the Working Group on Merits of Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit Plans with Emphasis on Small Business Concerns will meet. From 1 to 3:30 p.m. the Working Group on Soft Dollars and Commission Recapture will meet. Both groups will organize their study for the year and begin taking testimony on the topics.
On April 9 from 9:30 a.m. to noon, the Working Group on Employer Assets in ERISA Employer-Sponsored Plans will meet. The group will establish its agenda and course of study with respect to employer assets in employer-sponsored plans for the upcoming Council year.
Individuals or organizations wishing to address the council should submit 20 copies of a written statement before April 1 to Sharon Morrissey, executive secretary, ERISA Advisory Council, U.S. Department of Labor, Suite N-5677, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Oral presentations are limited to 10 minutes but witnesses may submit an extended statement for the record.
Members of the public who do not wish to testify may submit 20 copies of their statement to the above address. Individuals with disabilities who need special accommodations should also contact the department by April 1 at the address above.
The Advisory Council is a bipartisan group of 15 members appointed by the Secretary of Labor to represent a wide range of interests in the employee benefit area. The council advises and makes recommendations to the secretary on the administration of ERISA.
