Bureau of Labor Statistics and Federal Reserve Bank Officials to Present at Data Users’ Conference in Kansas City, Missouri

KANSAS CITY, MO – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) will hold a Data Users’ Conference at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Missouri, on April 1, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.

Bureau of Labor Statistics Deputy Commissioner William Wiatrowski will be presenting at the conference. Focused on Prices and Employment, the conference will include the following topics: “BLS and the Future of Data,” “Employment and Inflation: Is There a Disconnect?” and “International and Domestic Prices: How Does the U.S. Compare?” A panel discussion, “Recent Price Movements: What Do They Tell Us?” will be held.

In addition to Wiatrowski, the conference will also include presentations by:

  • David Friedman, BLS’ Associate Commissioner for Prices and Living Conditions;
  • Susan Fleck, BLS’ Assistant Commissioner for International Prices;
  • Jeffrey Hill, BLS’ Assistant Commissioner, Producer Price Index;
  • Luke Woodward, Senior Vice President and Head of Research, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City
  • A. Lee Smith, Senior Economist, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City
