WASHINGTON – As the overall economy continues to rebound from the pandemic, many of the workers most adversely affected – particularly women, people of color, people with disabilities, lower-wage workers and workers from other historically marginalized communities – continue to face persistent challenges with finding quality jobs.

In the week ending June 25, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 231,000, a decrease of 2,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 4,000 from 229,000 to 233,000. The 4-week moving average was 231,750, an increase of 7,250 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 1,000 from 223,500 to 224,500.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of $50,643,113 in Pathway Home grants to 18 organizations in 14 states to provide training and employment services to adults reentering the workforce following incarceration in a local jail or state correctional facility.

WASHINGTON – To improve the delivery of unemployment insurance services to people faced with obstacles to accessing state systems and benefits in Maryland, Nebraska and South Dakota, the U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of $11,406,000 in equity grants.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of more than $18 million in competitive grant funding to help workers in Maine, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wisconsin understand the application process for claiming and receiving unemployment benefits and related services.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration has issued guidance to inform states about their grant allotments, and the process and timelines to apply for funding to administer services through their foreign labor certification programs.

In the week ending May 28, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 200,000, a decrease of 11,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up by 1,000 from 210,000 to 211,000. The 4-week moving average was 206,500, a decrease of 500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 206,750 to 207,000.

WASHINGTON – To help identify and address barriers workers face in accessing state unemployment insurance benefits, the U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of more than $9.1 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding to the Texas Workforce Commission.

The grant is the largest equity grant awarded to a single state under this funding opportunity, which provides states up to $260 million to improve equity in their unemployment insurance program.

WASHINGTON – To bolster community colleges’ and other institutions’ efforts to deliver more equitable education and training, the U.S. Department of Labor today announced the availability of a $50 million funding opportunity to help people in marginalized and underrepresented populations overcome barriers to the career and technical education programs they need to be connected to good-paying jobs. 

In the week ending May 21, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 210,000, a decrease of 8,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 218,000. The 4-week moving average was 206,750, an increase of 7,250 from the previous week's unrevised average of 199,500.

The previous week's level was revised down by 6,000 from 203,000 to 197,000. The 4-week moving average was 199,500, an increase of 8,250 from the previous week's revised average. WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor has announced that its Employment and Training Administration has issued guidance to inform states and outlying areas about their formula allotments and the process to apply for certain programs for the start of the program year on July 1, 2022.
