WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of $50 million in Apprenticeship Building America grant funding for Registered Apprenticeship hubs – organizations that help employers design, develop and deliver programs – and support the establishment, scaling and expansion of Registered Apprenticeship programs in new and fast-growing industries and occupations.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an incremental award of $961,059 to support continued disaster-relief employment and employment and training services in northern California after devastating wildfires in August 2020.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of $20,520,000 in grant funding to Arizona, Colorado and North Carolina to improve the delivery of unemployment insurance services to people facing obstacles to access.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced an incremental award of $1.3 million to the Cherokee Nation to support continued disaster-relief employment and employment and training services in response to the coronavirus pandemic’s effects on its people.

In the week ending July 16, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 251,000, an increase of 7,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 244,000. The 4-week moving average was 240,500, an increase of 4,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 235,750 to 236,000.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of $9,122,164 in equity grants to Rhode Island and Wisconsin’s state employment insurance systems to enhance awareness and improve delivery of unemployment insurance services to people who face obstacles to access.

In the week ending July 9, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 244,000, an increase of 9,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 235,000. The 4-week moving average was 235,750, an increase of 3,250 from the previous week's unrevised average of 232,500.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of $12.3 million in grants to five national out-of-school time organizations to expand local work readiness programs. The second round of Workforce Pathways for Youth grants will support programs that provide jobs skills and training, and offer work experiences for young people from age 14 to 21.  

Out-of-school time organizations operate supervised programs for young people when school is not in session.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of more than $121 million in Apprenticeship Building America grants to strengthen and modernize Registered Apprenticeship programs and enable workers to find a reliable pathway to the middle class. The department awarded more than $58 million of the total funding to grantees focusing on equity partnerships and pre-apprenticeship activities.
