🍎 A plan to address America’s educator shortage

Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su joined Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona this week in Nevada, where they announced new Good Jobs Principles for education. These principles will improve recruitment, training and retention in the education sector by making education jobs good jobs.

We’ve awarded more than $67 million to help young people with disabilities overcome obstacles to employment.

Women’s Bureau Director Wendy Chun-Hoon welcomed women leaders from many fields to an event spotlighting how women are making a difference in the workplace. Women policymakers, union representatives, athletes and advocates discussed how issues such as wage gaps, occupational segregation, gender-based violence and harassment, and caregiving affect women workers – and how to advance gender equity in the workforce.

Workers’ involvement in the OSHA inspection process is essential. A new final rule clarifies the rights of employees to authorize a representative to accompany an OSHA compliance officer during an inspection of their workplace.

Under the USMCA’s Rapid Response Labor Mechanism, the Labor Department and the U.S. Trade Representative are requesting the Mexican government review allegations that workers’ rights have been denied at two facilities in Mexico.
