Deputy Assistant Secretary Mike Trupo
Michael F. Trupo is the career Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. In this role he oversees public and internal communication for the department, including news media response and digital media. He is responsible for office operations, including human resources and staff development, labor-management relations and budget.
Mr. Trupo joined the Labor Department in 2008 with the Employment and Training Administration, where he oversaw workforce development grants. Since 2009 he has filled a wide range of roles within OPA, including a decade as a Press Officer, dealing directly with the media. He has served during four presidential administrations, including six secretaries of labor.
Before joining the department, Mr. Trupo worked as a newspaper reporter at various outlets in Western New York. He specialized in state and local politics and also spent time as a photojournalist, editor and sports correspondent.
Mr. Trupo is a graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo.
