My dear Mr. Secretary:

It isn't true, is it, that the Bureau of Industrial Housing and Transportation of your Department has joined with the United States Shipping Board in petitioning the Public Utilities Commission of New Jersey to grant a seven-cent fare to the New Jersey Public Service Corporation? Somebody has sent me a clipping from a newspaper which makes that statement, and I know so much about the absolute unworthiness of that whole New Jersey Public Service crowd that I hope nothing of the sort has happened. I know you will pardon this inquiry about a matter which disturbs me.

Cordially and sincerely yours,

Woodrow Wilson
