June 4, 1918

My dear Mr. Secretary:

Thank you warmly for taking the pains to write me so full and interesting a letter as yours of June first in comment upon the memorandum of Mr. Nunn which was sent to me by Doctor Walcott. It sets forth in full what I had known only in part of the admirable work and influence of the department on trying to educate our laboring men to a full comprehension of everything that is involved in our present critical struggle.

I take the liberty of returning the posters and photographs which you were kind enough to let me see.

Cordially and sincerely yours,

Woodrow Wilson
