The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy (OASP) is the principal policy, regulatory, data governance, and evaluation office for the Department of Labor. OASP plays a crucial role in developing and advancing the department's priorities, providing advice to the Secretary of Labor, Deputy Secretary of Labor, and department leadership on actions to improve the lives of workers, retirees, and their families.
OASP supports DOL's efforts to address labor exploitation and combat human trafficking by coordinating agency initiatives, ensuring an integrated department-wide approach, and supporting DOL's involvement in interagency anti-trafficking efforts.
OASP convenes DOL's internal, staff-level Trafficking in Persons Working Group to provide direction on administration priorities, facilitate collaboration, and leverage resources within DOL, while aligning agency work at the national and regional levels.
OASP helps agencies identify program gaps and needs, prioritize policy issues, leverage resources, foster collaboration, and track progress towards the White House National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking.
OASP also works closely with other federal agencies and supports the Secretary of Labor and senior officials' participation in cabinet-level and interagency trafficking coordination meetings, including the President's Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, the Senior Policy Operating Group, and the National Security Council's Interagency Policy Coordination meetings on implementing the National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking.
ASP staff participate in Senior Policy Operating Group working groups on particular policy and outreach initiatives.
