The Security Center (SC) is responsible for providing a safe work environment for the tenants of the Frances Perkins Building and providing physical security guidance to local and regional U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) offices. This program office works with and supports local law enforcement agencies and Federal Protective Services (FPS), when necessary. Providing office/building assessments, oversight of the contract uniform Security Officers, processing visitor/group access and the maintenance of building security equipment, are just a few of the areas the Physical Security Team supports DOL. The Security Center (SC) is responsible for life safety and emergency response in the Frances Perkins Building and for occupant emergency planning in all U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) facilities. Occupant Emergency Plans (OEPs) are required for all government facilities and include evacuation and Shelter-In-Place (SIP) protocols and procedures and encompass all hazards that may be encountered in the workplace (e.g., fire, severe weather, bomb threats, terrorism, and earthquakes). The Emergency Response Coordinator oversees the Frances Perkins Building emergency response team, including emergency medical response, and manages the DOL Floor Warden and Zone Monitor program for the National Office.
