The Office of Worker Safety, Health and Environment (OWSHE) provides leadership, policy guidance, technical advice, and overall administration and management of the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) internal safety and occupational health program, workers' compensation program, and Voluntary Employee Health Service Program (VEHSP). OWSHE ensures safe and healthful DOL workplaces through the timely identification of occupational safety and health hazards, and partners with agencies to implement abatement actions and preventative measures. OWSHE in partnership with the Office of Field Operations (OFO) Safety Branch, provides outreach and education to all DOL personnel, and participates in DOL's Departmental and National Office Safety and Health Committees. OWSHE administers the Department's Hazard Reporting application and manages and maintains, for DOL federal employees, the Employees’ Compensation Operations & Management Portal (ECOMP).
