Joining the Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor, and Human Trafficking (OCFT) means making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children, families, and workers around the world. With over 25 years of experience, OCFT is a world leader in the fight to eradicate child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking. We combat these egregious labor abuses using a two-part approach: i) providing cutting-edge research on child labor and forced labor in more than 150 countries around the world, and ii) working collaboratively with nearly 100 governments and 80 organizations to strengthen laws, enforcement, policies, and social programs to end child labor and forced labor. Our research expertise and strong partnerships also feed into our efforts to raise awareness, build capacity, and facilitate impacts in other organizations too. For example, we work with U.S. companies on addressing child and forced labor risks in their global supply chains and have created a business-friendly app called ‘Comply Chain’ to help companies manage and mitigate the risks. In OCFT, you will be part of our team undertaking research, engagement, and technical cooperation initiatives that have made a critical difference in the lives of close to 2 million children and 185,000 families so far—and we are helping more people each day.

The Work of OCFT
Our work is divided into two units – a Research and Policy (R&P) Unit and a Technical Assistance and Cooperation (TAC) Unit – and one division – Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL). The R&P Unit produces important reporting on child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking and makes it accessible to the U.S. government, foreign governments, NGOs, businesses, and other organizations working to tackle these serious violations. The TAC Unit currently manages an active portfolio of approximately 50 technical cooperation projects to combat child labor and forced labor around the world. MERL works as an independent division to improve the effectiveness of OCFT’s technical assistance program and promote the integration of learning from project monitoring, performance evaluations, audits, and surveys and into OCFT’s programs and activities.
