Change in DFEC Case Jurisdiction

The Division of Federal Employees' Compensation (DFEC) has determined that it would improve overall service to DFEC claimants and Federal employing agencies by making a shift in the jurisdictions of the Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA district offices.

The Philadelphia, PA district office will expand its jurisdiction to include all zip codes in Maryland aside from those covering an area roughly encompassing Prince George's County. The Washington, DC district office will continue to have jurisdiction when the claimant's residence is within an area roughly approximating Prince George's County. A list of the zip codes being transferred from the Washington, DC district office to the Philadelphia district office appears below.

Effective September 1, 2014, the Philadelphia district office will begin adjudicating all new claims created in their new jurisdiction. Effective October 1, 2014, jurisdiction for existing claims in these zip codes will be transferred to Philadelphia. Additional information regarding the jurisdictional change will be sent directly to those impacted.
