Vince Micone
Vince Micone is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (OASAM). In this role, he provides day-to-day management to more than 770 employees in the national office and six regional offices. He has overall leadership responsibility for policy and operations encompassing business operations, procurement, human resources management, civil rights, emergency management, security, administrative services, and employee safety and health.
Before joining OASAM, he was the Executive Director for Enterprise Services with the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he led a comprehensive shared services delivery program providing world-class human capital, acquisition, and information technology business solutions. Previously, he served in other federal roles including Principal Deputy Special Inspector General and Chief Operations Officer for a federal law enforcement and independent audit agency at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and leadership positions at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He also served as the 2016 Presidential Transition Officer.
Mr. Micone serves as co-chair of the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area, the federal government's workplace giving campaign. He first served in this role from 2002 to 2008 and was re-elected to the position in 2013. Under his leadership, the campaign has raised more than $770 million in charitable contributions for tens of thousands of non-profit organizations. He was also appointed to the District of Columbia Commission on National and Community Service and served as the commission's chairperson.
He began his federal service at the U.S. Department of Justice through the Presidential Management Fellows program and was honored by Attorney General Janet Reno for outstanding contributions as a new employee. He has received commendation awards from the Office of Personnel Management, Office of the Secretary of Defense, U.S. Department of the Treasury, and U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Micone has a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from Arizona State University and a Master of Public Administration in Intergovernmental Management from the University of Southern California. He was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration in 2016.
